WOW! SAID THE AUTHOR
Sunday was a beautiful day. It was also the last day of the Scarborough Literature Festival and I was booked to do an afternoon event at the library. So after a stroll along the beach, and an egg sandwich, I made my way into town. A big THANK YOU to all the staff who helped out and a really big WOW! to all the kids who came along and produced such fantastic artwork.

BOOKPILE_1
A couple of weeks ago Zoe at Playing By The Book, did a great post on 50+ Picture Books Every Child Should Be Read. She asked six illustrators (including me) to nominate 10 books each. This is the pile of books I put together, but as I was only allowed 10 not all of them made it on to the final list. You can view the complete 50+ list here.

HATS OFF!
Spotted this bright orange poppy taking its hat off in the morning sunshine.
And here's the moment a little owl opened her eyes to discover she was now a glorious board book. Well not quite, these are just the proofs!

PROGRESS, PROGRESS
Work on my new book is now in FULL swing. I'll be submitting the rough layouts for approval on Monday. Nothing beats a self-imposed deadline to get the job done.
Keeping things upbeat, I've put together a PROGRESS playlist which spotify users can listen to here.

INSPIRATION
Last week Zoe over at Playing By The Book (one of my favourite sites) asked me if I would be interested in helping to compile a list of 50+ picture books every child should be read. So I spent last Sunday going through my collection and eventually came up with 10 suggestions. Other illustrators who helped put the list together include - Katie Cleminson, James Mayhew, Viviane Schwarz, Jan Pienkowski and Clara Vulliamy. You can view the complete list here. Enjoy!
