SUMMERTIME

It's holiday time, the schools around here break up this Friday. Not so for me, I'm busy finishing the artwork for my latest book and then it's straight on to a new project. My next book is written by someone else, so this will be MY FIRST picture book commission as an illustrator. It's a great story and I can't wait to get started.

MY FIRST...

LIBRARY CARD

Last week I was in Scotland to celebrate the launch of the new Inverclyde library card for children, featuring the cover image from 'Tip Tap Went The Crab'. With this card, children in Inverclyde are able to borrow from a huge range of picture books, board books, books on CD and children's DVDs.

My own first library card was made of folded yellow card and had my name written on the front in blue biro. I think you were allowed to borrow up to 5 books at any one time. Library cards (and libraries) have come a long way since those days!
